Freeway/PayPal integration

Hi all,

I am building a website for a musician who wants to sell his own MP3 files via his website. All of the music available is at a fixed price.

I am using PayPal as the payment gateway for its simple code generating system, I can just paste the markup HTML straight into my Freeway page.

As everything is the same price I am thinking of possible ways to save time setting the site up. If I use the same PayPal code for every track is there a way that Freeway can tell PayPal the name of the track, or an item code unique to each track, that would then be visible in the shopping cart and on the customers receipt.

At present there are 30 tracks available to download but over time this will grow as the artist makes more music. I am just trying to cut corners and save time inputting information and getting code for each item on PayPal.

I assume that there are more sophisticated systems available that are database driven enabling easier maintenance but for this project I have to use PayPal.

Thanks in advance.

Jim

There are a set of FW Shop ebuy actions that integrate easily with Mals - and then with PayPal. Mals also offer a Download system for your MP3s - this is what they have to say on the Mals site:

SELLING DOWNLOADS

Some goods that you sell may be shipped on the internet itself, for example, software for download, MP3 music files or access to protected web pages with valuable information. To do this you need some way of presenting information or links on the final exit page of the cart. That is the purpose of the download transaction system.

The download system only works with secure exit pages hosted here. This includes transactions processed by; standard (free) card and check methods and most payment gateways, click here for a full list.

HOW IT WORKS

First set up your database in Admin. With a free account there is a limit of 50 products, with a Premium account it is 500. To link to the database you should include the product code when you add items to the cart. This is done by placing it at the front of the description followed immediately by a colon and a space ": ". For example;
< input type=hidden name=product value="pr1001: Small widgets" >

The price field in the cart is checked against the price for that product in the database, they must match. This is to stop naughty people trying to adjust the price in the cart.

LINKLOK

An alternative to using the cart's built-in download system is the third-party service provided by LinkLok. This is what they say:

Linklok provides secure delivery of digital products after a transaction with Mals-e. After payment has been made by the client the remote call system calls Linklok which sends an email containing secure download links for any digital products ordered. Before sending the email Linklok verifies that it has been called by Mals-e and that the required price has been paid for each product.

The links sent do not show the location of the download file on the server and can be set to expire after any period of time. The links can also be locked to the IP address of the client if required. MD5 hashing is used to ensure that the links cannot be tampered with. Many advanced features are included such as the ability to delay delivery for higher risk orders such as those paid by chosen payment methods or using free type email addresses. In this case an email is sent to the client informing them of the delay and the merchant is sent an email with the order details and a link that can be used to complete the order when ready. The emails are template based (text or html format) and can even be product specific. Linklok also has options for product specific template segments, generation of serial numbers or unlock codes, support for Software Passport keys and many other features.

Hope this helps

LinkLok might be a better option to handle the downloads but you can still use PayPal for payment - http://www.vibralogix.com/linklokipn/
