Me too but the safe way to do it is to keep the old version of your site to fall back on if it all goes down the pan.
So once 5.6 is installed then open an existing site and immediately do a Save As calling it mysite56 or similar - you can also set a new site folder to publish into in File>Document Setup. With the Document tab selected it is half way down.
Then you will have the earlier version too.
