Hi, Just installed Pro 5 on an Intel iMac and find that what I see is not what I get. I cannot even complete the first tutorial successfully. In Layout, it looks exactly the same as the picture in the user guide, but in Preview the text boxes overlap and the photo’s, which are supposed to look like photographs overlapping each other, do not look as they do in the user guide.
Is there something about the ATI Radeon graphics card in the iMac that is skewing this or is it something else.
Sorry if this is a duplicate, I cannot see the post I made yesterday.

In preview have you possibly enlarged the text size by clicking on the small and large A along the top of the screen
Have you also done a File>‘preview in browser’ to see what it looks like then.
It is unlikely that your Radeon card is doing anything strange.
It is far more likely that some of the settings on your page are not as per the tutorial.
Check for correct text sizes, combine graphics on etc.
And if you have hosting space - upload to a server so that we can see it there.

Hi David,
I went through the tutorial again and the text boxes are behaving now.
However, the photos do not overlap as shown in the User Guide.
In the guide, the three photos are shown enclosed within a single item. This does not happen for me.
http://homepage.mac.com/mrmacfixit/ shows the effect, which is not pretty.
Thanks

Success.
After reading through the manual and help file for a while and going backwards and forwards with different ideas, I noticed that the term “Combine with Children” was not the words in the manual. Combine Graphics was the term used, along with “option checked by default”. I had assumed that this must be one of those differences between Pro and Express. Removing the Layer check mark produced the correct words and the photo’s now act as advertised.
Thanks again for your time.

You are quite correct. It would appear that the correct effect is not achieved with the 3 pics as layered items.
Once you have the 3 pics non layered and set to combine graphics then you can select them, group them and then turn the group back into a layer.
Have you re-uploaded it to your .mac site yet?

I’ve had the same problem. I wonder Peter, if you’d mind putting another page up the way you had it before your fixed it?

Yep, that’s exactly the result that I got at first.
I’ve uploaded both the pages now, same address.
www.homepage.mac.com/mrmacfixit/
There is also a link between the two pages so the difference is immediately noticeable.
Just turning off the layers solved all the frustration I was having.
