Freeway quiting

Hi,

I am running Freeway Pro 4.33 on Mac OS Leopard. I am trying to preview my new website - when I do this I am prompted with a message that says “One or more HTML files which do not belong to this site will be overwritten. Do you want to continue?” so I press Okay and it crashes FW.

Has anybody and ideas why this is happening or how to rectify this situation, so far I have tried creating a new site and cut and pasting my content but the same thing is still happening.

Please help!!

Just to update on this, I have just updated to version 4.4 and the problem is still there.

This relates to files found in the folder or directory set as the publish or
upload destination that are not made with this actual Freeway document and
which have the same filenames and hence will be overwritten.

There are various scenarios where this can arise.

More about how and what you are doing would reveal the particular reasons in
your case.

If I know I have published to the same destination from an alternate version
of a Freeway document - and that that is my intention then I disregard the
warning. But it can be a reminder to check that the destination IS in fact
what I intend.

You wouldn’t normally put anything or interact with anything in the publish
destination except via Freeway. If you did something from another document
or web application or manually into your upload server destination - then
this warning would give you pause to check the files before proceeding.

hope this helps
If you offer more clues as to how you are working it will help show what is
going on.

regards
Brian

Hi everyone, I’m getting the same warning message as the OP.

I updated a couple of pages of my site and uploaded with no problem. I then up-dated a couple of PDF’s (as I have done every month) and it was then I got the warning message - both when I try to up-load to the ftp server as well as publish only locally.

I have deleted the PDF’s and removed all links to them on the site.

I have emptied the Site Folder and even deleted it and created a new Site Folder and I still get the warning - as the OP, when I click continue and overwrite, Freeway crashes.

I tried Resampling all resources as suggested above and Freeway crashed again

I downloaded the latest copy of Pro 4 (4.4.2) and still have the same problem (I’m running 10.4.11 BTW).

I made a copy of my site file and deleted all pages except the index and it worked fine, so I’m guessing I have one or more corrupted pages on my site, so should I try deleting one page at a time to the offending pages/s.

Right now I have created a new file and up-loaded one page and that is working.

Any ideas apart from me trying to delete page by page? I have about 50 pages so it will be a long night!

Thanks for any input

Mike

When you try and publish can you see in the site pane (LHS) that the pages are ‘dirty’ ie they have a black blob next to them. As they are published the blobs disappear.

Is there a point when it is running down the pages that you get your crash - if so this is likely to be your problem page.

Thanks Dave, good tip. But I’ve just tried it, all pages are “dirty” but Freeway hangs before any of the pages are published, including the index page and that page is fine as I have up-loaded that on it’s own yesterday morning.

The warning message about there being html files with the same name is clearly wrong as there are no files at all in the site folder. It’s beginning to look like I may have to try deleting one page at a time.

I’ll try that tomorrow and report back.

Hi Mike,

Sounds like you have corrupt graphics in your site. Take a look at
this KnowledgeBase article to see how to go about finding them:

Many thanks Joe

That looks promising, I’ll try that tonight

Thanks again, but that didn’t work either. When I turn on Graphics Preview, FW hangs after about 20 seconds, even when I’m viewing the index page (and that one does publish and upload when on its own).

There is no problem with FW as I can publish and upload other sites, it just seems to be this one.

I think I will need to try publishing just one page at a time by deleting all other pages (in case I have more than 2 pages with corrupt files).

Remember to do a save as first.

Once you have a copy then work on it and copy/paste the pages into a new blank document. Designate a new site folder for the new document and try publishing after adding each page.

Thanks again Dave

I did pretty much what you suggested last night and I’ve identified 9 pages in the English folder (I have 2 languages in separate folders running 2 different Mals carts) that have the problem - the German pages are all fine.

Will do more testing and re-building now but last night at least one of the pages even had the problem when I deleted all items, text, graphics and even background colour, from it.

I have a horrible feeling that I may end up having to re-build the whole site.
