freeway save options

Good morning,

I have been having some issue with saving my page. it keeps wanting to save a new file not to the old, plus if I re open it goes to an “untitled” state… Now my thoughts were that this is happening because I am not saving it correctly. If you look at the bottom of the save as pop up… what do the 2 freeway symbols mean… and which is better for a multi page / multi graphic site?

this seems to be an intermittent problem.

thanks for your ideas and suggestions.

I believe you may have opened the fwbackup file, what you describe is
the correct behavior for that file-type. Click once on the file in the
Finder, and then use Apple-I or File / Get Info to open an Info window
for the file. Open up the Name & Extension segment of the window, and
note what the filename extension is. If it says YourFile.fwbackup,
then start hunting around for YourFile.freeway. Or, use the Save As to
make a new name for this file, and make sure you save it as a regular
file. You shouldn’t have this problem after that.

I think they relate to making the document a regular document or a
Stationery Pad document. The latter will also do what you described –
I haven’t used that feature of Mac OS since the Mac OS 8 days.
Basically, it’s meant to create a scratch-pad that you can open
without ever modifying it further. Each time you open it, the Finder
executes a copy of the original, opens the copy, and leaves it in an
unsaved state. You should see the Stationery Pad checkbox checked on
your original file in the Finder’s Get Info window if that is the case.
