FTP clients

When I try to upload my sites built with Freeway 4 PRO. using the Freeway FTP option, sometimes it works the way it should only uploading new content, other times even if no changes have been made it will upload the entire site again. I usually get a message something like the server has timed out. I thought it might be my ISP so I changed internet providers but I still have the problem. Could it be my hosting company?
Or should I stop using the Freeway FTP client and start using a ‘real’ ftp client like Fetch.

Hi Robert

Personally, I use Fetch. I have nothing against FW’s FTP client but Fetch gives me so many more options, especially if I want to change read/write permissions on Content-Managed pages, for example. It’s powerful, quick and gives you a real-time visual update of the contents of your web directory.

Really the only reason to use a separate FTP application is for setting up special conditions on your hosting site (such as protected directors). The built in ftp capabilities are all that are required for uploading a Freeway site. A possible exception would be if you are using special javascript libraries for example, a separate ftp application would be useful.

Even if only a small change is made to a master page it will cause Freeway to re-upload all pages with content based on the master.

I have occasionally seen FW upload the same files over and over. Going to Edit>Resources and doing an update all and resample all corrects the behavior.
