Further Exhibeo development

What is the hold up with further development of Exhibeo? By now surely we should be seeing more themes, and more development of existing themes, particularly with the presentation of thumbnails. Where are the things we used to have in Showtime, like shadows and reflections?

This is exactly why I will not update to Freeway 7. Nice company but are very slow for improvements. Their stock excuse is that they are using all their resources on a new release.
It’s a love hate relationship. Love the product, hate the company.

You must be annoyed… I can relate to that. But it’s only a $20 app-- and already does a lot for that. Wowslider has more bells and whistles if that’s what you really need. To keep it affordable and simple, I’d only wish a few Freeway-like Extended tweaks to improve its Freeway interoperability. Oh, and I’d love a Ken Burns transition to the Slide theme

Now I like to think of myself as Freeway’s biggest critic, but isn’t that a bit of a cut to the nose to spite the face? I mean, by the time you do upgrade to FW7 we will all be using FWXX to build websites with our minds… Look, I know it’s not the futuristic jet-pack we were expecting but Freeway 7.1 does have many, sometimes subtle, improvements. You should be exploring this brave new world with us instead of exiling yourself to the past.

Wow. Those are some strong words for some of the nicest, most helpful people out there, people who do a lot for us users despite being small and with limited resources.

I am pretty sure they are not spending the billions they made on the profits in the Caribbean.

Exhibeo is an awesome product for the price. If you want more features (for more $$) check their competitors. I have looked at many of the competitors over the years and Exhibeo gives me warm happy fuzzy feelings for the money I paid for it.

My website is mostly photos and will hold over 14,000 when finished. I use it a lot!

There’s no excuse for this kind of comment in this Forum.

Oh, I don’t know about that. Softpress certainly earns the love-- and hate-- that we sometimes feel for them.

A while back, I was reading an interview with one of the managers of a new web-design software and-- although I don’t use their product-- was genuinely interested in hearing about what they had plans to do with it and all the things they had to overcome. Exciting!! I found myself daydreaming and suddenly that manager became Joe Billings and the company was Softpress-- and I was getting excited about all the great things they were planning to do with Freeway…

But that has never happened, and likely never will. Softpress just doesn’t reveal what is on their own Freeway Wish List is, let alone discuss anything that isn’t already old news. They could be an inspiring company, but sadly do not seem to aspire so.

That said, I still think Exhibeo is an excellent price performer for users, and could even be doubled (if my Extended slash Ken Burns wishlist was fulfilled).

This pretty much sums it up in a nutshell …

Hi guys,

We’re still working away on a new version of Exhibeo but it’s taking longer than we anticipated. I know waiting is frustrating, but we’ll have some news for you soon. What I can say is that we’re keeping the focus on simple and cost effective. We’ve listened to and appreciate all your feedback, although I’m sorry to say there won’t be any Freeway-like extended dialogs or Ken burns effect, Ernie :frowning:

Cheers,
Joe

Hopefully very soon  And many more responsive options - or at least one simple singular “hero” slide/fade that isn’t loaded with framing, buttons, counters, stacks, tiles, spinning or other distractions. PNG transparency compatibility is very important too.

I don’t think these are outrageous requests, and if you look in the FW forum you’ll see many threads about using 3rd party sliders etc. for this very reason. I’m about to buy Amazing Slider because Exhibeo can’t do it.

OTOH, I appreciate the developers perspective - no matter what you build someone will complain it’s lacking this and that. It can be almost comical at times.

That’s good news Joe. But maybe it’s useful for you to know that we are out there and interested…(apart from the shouting that is!)

Keep up the good work.
