FWP 5.5 --> FWP 6.0

Is there any reason to convert a FWP 5.5 website to FWP 6.0?

If so, what happens to all of the Actions that were applied to the document in the old version of FWP? Do they have to be reapplied?

Also, has anyone successfully converted a FWP 5.5 document to FWP 6.0? If so, what tips can you share with us to make the transition easier?

Thanks!

If you wish to utilise features that only FW6 can give you without hand coding.

Unless there is an action that doesn’t work with 6 (outlined in the Whats New pdf) no reapplication is required. If you are using an action that needs to updated to be FW6 ready then I suggest that you do the update in 5.5 first.

And some actions do need to be reapplied as part of a general update process - not necessarily anything to do with FW6.

I have converted a small site to 6 successfully but it wasn’t overly complicated to start with. But I must admit I have stopped short of implementing all the Html5/FW6 features that I could have.

The rule of thumb is always that you work on a backup/copy and that the first thing you do is create/select a new Site Folder to publish into. (To avoid overwriting the existing site)

Never upload until you have thoroughly tested.

Stick to those rules and you wont go wrong.

Hello David,

I hope you’re well.
I have a question: Does the new FW6 include multiple undos?

Thanks,
Marcus

Hi Marcus,
no multiple undos. But please have a look at http://freewaytalk.net/thread/view/124113 and especially at the comment from Heather.
