I’ve used google analytics several times before very successfully.
However I have just set up a new account and want to apply it to a new .php site I have designed.
I noticed if you want to track .php pages it says…
For any PHP pages, put the following code in a file (for example, analyticstracking.php) and upload it to your site. Then, add the following line to each template page immediately after the opening tag: <?php include_once("analyticstracking.php") ?>
Is this correct or can I still place the code generated in Page - HTML Markup - Before
This seems silly. I use GA for some of my sites, both heavy PHP and
Rails, and we just use the regular GA tracker code. The only thing I
could imagine that you might need to add some extra help for is if
your page URLs aren’t search-engine friendly, but what are you doing
tracking pages.php?a=2&b=4&z=231 for anyway? You could just as easily
twist that URL into /pages/fiction/sally/why-i-love-the-winter.html
