Google Maps API

Any idea why a Google Maps API would work perfectly when the website is on my laptop at home and then when I publish to the internet it fails with the message:

This web site needs a different Google Maps API key. A new key can be generated at Google Maps Platform – FAQs  |  Google for Developers.

I have gone to Google twice tonight and generated new keys and they both worked great when I preview my own site folder but not after I publish?

Website is not blocked or anything strange?

Here is a link to the test website & page with the error:
http://soloniuk.com/soloniuk/contactus.html

My first thought on this would be on how your site is hosted.

Is it a shared host, one domain parked on top of another or something else like that and so the ‘host’ domain is not the domain you signed up to get the key for.

Your key doesn’t look right for that domain. When you sign up for the key you should just be entering the domain “http://soloniuk.com”, not the domain plus the path “http://soloniuk.com/soloniuk/contactus.html”.

No the domain has it’s own IP.

I entered http:/soloniuk.com when I signed up for the key.

All 3 keys I have had over the last 36 hours work great on my DSL connection at my office on my office laptop, but fail when I move the site up to the web?

Hi Dale,

The key isn’t required to view the site locally, it only gets checked when used online.

You key should be:

ABQIAAAAbGF12eK9mCUHuD6tRNGcFRRI8CerecMUnwACgBAZs5GPwnGpwhRv6Piz6dHvX2UenbqPhPREzsiWsg

Yours is currently set as:

Your key works beautifully.

Thanks a million but any idea why the key(s) I was generating were failing?

Did you just generate a key for soloniuk.com and that was all?

I used your full domain:

http://soloniuk.com

The key is just generated from that string of characters and will always be the same if you use the same domain.
