(Gr)avatars

You may notice a blue G floating to the right of your posts. Or, if you already have a Gravatar, you will note that it’s being used.

If you’re in the former category, and want to personalize your posts on Freewaytalk (or on countless blogs) please go here:

http://site.gravatar.com

It’s quick, painless, and the JavaScript image cropper is just drop-dead cool! Upload any image to their server, and then associate it with your e-mail address, and presto – any site that incorporates Gravatar will serve up that picture every time you post to it.

More eye candy to come!

That’s my puppy Rosie, in case you wonder. She’s a standard poodle, runs about 30 miles an hour, and will fetch anything you can throw. Seriously.

Walter,

This does not seem to work correctly, avatar added, but does not display unless I update my profile, but if I Quit and log-in later, no avatar, have to update profile again. Is just me locally?

perhaps if you go back to the garavatar site and re-upload it the system might reset itself

just a thought

I concur. Since there are lots of other people with their Gravatar showing on this page, and yours isn’t, the problem isn’t here – it’s on Gravatar’s system.

That was the first thing I checked - hence raising the question.

If its not working, why does it show up on the profile OK , and not on the posts?

That IS bizarre. I can see what you mean. Both of those requests are going through the very same little code function on FreewayTalk, and both of them are being fulfilled by the same server – external to this system. So why one, requesting the 40px square version, would fail, while the one requesting the 80px square version would work, is a total mystery to me. Maybe you should post a support request to Gravatar.

Sorry,

Walter

The file is a .gif - maybe that’s it. I’ll change format. (the http://site.gravatar.com/ is down) I’ll try later.
