Graphic items not showing

New to Mac and Freeway Pro. Had a site for years using Frontpage (yuk!) Now on Mac and using Freeway Pro. It was going pretty good till I got more into the graphics. I draw out a graphic item, give it a border and a shadow but when I preview nothing shows up. I wanted to then import a photo into this item but when I do, only the photo shows up. No border and no shadow. Ultimately I want to reproduce a page from my old site www.stoneycreekdesigns.com It would be the “kit History” page. This was done with tables, of course but there must be an easier way in Freeway…Please HELP!!

Do you have your test page online?

Gary, no I don’t not sure how to do that. Plus, I keep deleting in an attempt to get it to work.

Try this

On a new blank page in FW

Drag an image from your old site from the finder onto the page (CSS Button enabled) text reads CSS Layout.

Apply your border and shadow etc.

Preview in Browser

Dave, it really isn’t the image I 'm having trouble with (anymore). For example, I want about 23 thumbnails on the page. At this point all I want is to have a 2px gray border around each one. Easy right? I make all the appropriate selections in the inspector. It appears to work but one I preview, some will have borders and some won’t. However, I just noticed that if I preview in Safari everything looks alright. So, I guess the question now is, which is correct.

That is one of the reasons I said

Preview in Browser

But at the end of the day you really need to get some pages online so that you can do some proper testing.

Why don’t you create a folder on your server www.stoneycreekdesigns.com/test
and set FW to upload into that ‘test’ folder.

You can then also share your experiments with us and we can see the underlying code and be able to explain why things do and don’t work for you.

Dave, I would love to do that BUT have no idea how that is done. I am a design/graphics guy. That’s what attracted me to FW PRO, no code. My site is now done and has been for a long time with Microsoft Front-page, long out of production. Heck, I’ m dreading, if and when, I get this site built, how in the world I get it published. The site I have now was set up a long time back and originally set up by some one else. I’ve done well maintaining it but all I do is click " publish" and off it goes. I can see having it available to this forum would be a huge help but…well, I’ll see what I can figure out.

Roger,

first step is to collect all your hosting datas that you have to hack in what could finally look s th. like:

In the next step, it is a good idea to have a look for a ftp-client so you can access the host-content. This one is a nice one:

http://cyberduck.ch/

Once access to your host (with mostly the same datas than above) you can create there a folder called “new” (as an example). Back in Freeway you need then to change the directory to this:

What now happens is, that FW is publishing your page in a subfolder called new on your host. Navigate (after you uploaded your page) to:

http://www.stoneycreekdesigns.com/new/index.html (if you named your starting-page index.html) and you should now see a page on-air.

Why creating a subfolder called “new”?

It leaves your actual stuff on-air. You can now develop without fear of loosing existing things.

Once you’re happy with your new stuff, backup your old content into a folder, remove the “new” from the upload settings, and your new stuff is published.

Hope this make sense.

Cheers

Thomas

Thank you Thomas. I have to go away on business for a while but when I return I will work on this.
