Graphics do not display in Blogger template

Hi, all. I need some help establishing a blog. I’ve followed the tutorial for setting up a blog on Google. I created a blog template using a copy of a page from my site that has my graphics. When displayed, the blog template is correct on the blogger except that the external graphics do not display although the graphics were uploaded to the correct site in the correct directory and can be accessed independent of Blogger. I’ve repeated the entire sequence several times and a knowledgeable friend has checked the coding and my sequenced actions. We’ve checked the HTML code, and it appears to be correct. Is there anything else I might be missing? Thank you for your help. Regards. David (David Block)

Can you post a link to your blogger site and the independent site with the graphics?

Thanks,

Walter

Hi, Walter. The blogger site is roadewarrior.blogspot.com. The independent site with the graphics is www.roadewarrior.com/david/Resources/.

Did you fill in the Site Address field in the Document Setup dialog in Freeway? In your blogspot site, I don’t see absolute links to your server, but relative links (such as you would use in a site where the images are hosted locally). Since you can’t upload graphics to blogspot, the Action is supposed to rewrite the code for you to make all of these relative links absolute references. If you don’t fill in the site address, it doesn’t know what to prepend in order for the addresses to work. You’re going to need to fill in the site address, then publish your HTML again, and paste it into the template field on blogspot.

In fact, it does this by adding a base href tag to the head of the
page so that the references are ‘virtually’ rather than literally
amended.

The trouble here is very simple. David, in the Site Address field in
the Document Setup dialog, put the complete URL, including the
http:// part. Without that it technically isn’t a complete URL. With
that, your blog should be fine.

(BTW, the same goes for addresses in these list/forum posts. PLEASE
remember to put the complete address in, exactly as you would copy
it, whole, from a browser’s address bar. Otherwise it won’t
necessarily be a clickable link for some, most or even all the people
that view your message.)
