Great article about form design

Think again about the process of placing an order over the phone, speaking to a human being. If she doesn’t understand something you say, she may ask you to clarify. Even when she does understand, she may read the the details back to you to confirm. Those interactions are normal and usually courteous. In fact, they reassure us all that the end result of the interaction will be what we expect.

She is not, however, likely to provide you with a set of rigid instructions as soon as she answers the phone, and then berateyou for failing to meet some of them. And yet web applications create the equivalent interaction all the time (sometimes skipping past the instructions and going directly to the berating).

Lots of great nuggets like that…

Walter,

I am on a very limited budget. In fact, I have not an income.
I am at such a crucial bridge in my career that I would like a programers opinion, just in case I get a gig that will keep me solvent.

I ask for the most candid opinion you feel acceptable.

Is an upgrade at this time a benefit for my situation, or should I wait for a spell.

As it stands judging from the forum, I don’t see anything I can offer over the competition with the upgrade. Screw that, nothing that dazzles.

How would you rank the benefits?

How would you, if the benefits are true, rank the learning curve for students such as myself.
