help with browser treatment of freeway site

Can anybody help me with this? It’s driving me mad!
I have created a small site for a friend
www.jdsuk.net
The whole site looks fine in Safari.
In Firefox the blue page footer moves down on the ‘services’ page. (Also on the ‘testimonials’ page).
On Internet Explorer it is even worse!!
These are not complicated pages - what am I doing wrong? What can I do to fix it?
Any help or advice much appreciated
Thanks

Hi,

I just had a look in firefox 3.5.5 and it looks ok apart from the footer is at the very bottom on the home page , on all the others it moves up about 5-10 pixels, but so do the buttons etc. must be an extra bit of space somewhere on the home page…the only other thing is that the buttons on the contact page are not all in line. otherwise it looks good to me.

I also had a look in Omniweb and the footer does not move at all, the buttons are still out on the contact page tho,

I am on a Mac so at the moment I do not have ie so I don’t know what happens there

Thanks Gary
Yes, it’s the footer I am having trouble with, mainly with Internet Explorer (I have XP installed in a partition on my Mac). I use Freeway Pro btw.
I have resolved the issue temporarily by making the html boxes on the affected pages graphic text. That fixes it, but I feel this shouldn’t be necessary.
I’ll check the buttons on the contact page - they shouldn’t be out of line because they come from a common master page!!
Thanks for your help

Hi Keith,

having had a quick look at the html of your site using firebug it appears you have put everything in a giant table ?

it is quite possible that the problems you are having are due to the variations in the way browsers handle tables.

there may be someone on the FWtalk site who is more knowledgeable about that to confirm

Having used FW myself now for 4 years, I now know that with the advent of CSS tables are best used for data lists, I personally would have laid out your site using the box model, there is then a way to make sure the footer stays glued to the bottom of the page in all browsers.

there is an explanation of the fixed footer method on the list somewhere, if I can find it I’ll put a link here

You have some white text at the bottom of the page, it reads www.jsduk.net. If you click on the page, then do select all (Apple A) you’ll see it. It’s making your pages much taller than they need to be. If you zoom out in Freeway and select all there, you’ll see it pop out of the page. Delete that and you should be a lot better.
