I am totally new with FW and am working with the trial pro download. I created a great header graphic with graphic text, i created a menu bar below it, now i want to create a series of menu tabs (rollover buttons?) about 4 of them that sequence along the menu bar with the header behind it. I got the whole rollover, mouse over button part down, but when i drag and drop the button on the menu bar things go haywire. First of all i either lose access to the rollover option in the actions pane or there all lumped together with the header and the menu bar. I’ve read a few threads and tried quiet a few permutations these last few hrs and am just getting confused. Do i layer or group or what? Also once they are grouped i can’t move the button anywhere. My goal is to learn how to get these 4 rollovers along the menu bar, to appear like file tabs. Do you know a simple step by step…thanks so much.
First time I tried this I struggled too. The way I now do graphic
buttons
Create Graphic item on pasteboard (- to be safe and not confuse
yourself, because it is easy to end up with the whole layout becoming
part of the rollover by mistake) and create/import content. Create
and Export a rollover state if you are not using one created
externally (and a Click/Down state if you want one).
Make sure Combine is unchecked in the Inspector palette
Assign Rollover Action from Window/Actions palette or Item/Actions.
In the Parameters pane of the Action find Mouseover/Select and
import the rollover state you want from wherever you saved it.
Repeat 4 but selecting the Click/Select button if you want that
level.
Drag your creation into place on your layout
Select the item and Command-K on the keyboard. The Links dialogue
will open with a range of options for where you want the button to
take you. Select one and close.
Test operation of the button in Preview and wether the link works in
File/Preview In Browser (chose from the options available to you.
It should now work…
