# Hide/show with carousel

I’m having trouble with combining the hide/show layer and carousels. Unfortunately I don’t have it uploaded to look at, but here are my problems.
I have 3 different carousels of images that I want people to be able to access by clicking a different buttons. So I have the three carousels stacked up on the same spot and with show/hide layer actions on both them, and the carousel buttons, as well as having three rollover buttons to make them appear. That is working to a point, but three things are problematic.
1, If I try and stack the three sets of carousel buttons so they will appear in the same spot then when I try and preview it I get a javascript error message saying “Carousel Button, this item has no properties.” Is there a way to have my carousel buttons all appear in the same location?
1. When they aren’t stacked, the carousel buttons will appear and disappear as desired by clicking the button that triggers the show/hide action, but they will also become visible If you roll over the spot they are on. Can this be avoided?
2. With the three carousels that are stacked on the same spot, two of them work perfectly, but one won’t become visible unless the previous carousel is on the first frame. If the previous carousel is on any other frame then it won’t appear. Any thoughts on this?

Not without seeing the final code somewhere.
Look carefully at the page in the Site pane in “Page” mode (click on
the word Site to toggle back and forth between Site and Page). My
guess is that some element of your carousel has become nested in
another carousel’s pane. It shouldn’t work at all if you do that, but
what you describe indicates that to me. The page view of the site pane
shows a hierarchical list of all elements on the page. Anything which
is nested into another box will appear “down and to the right” of the
parent, like outline view in PowerPoint.
Another thing to do is go through all of the individual carousel
elements and make sure that you name them unambiguously. This is not
so much for Freeway’s benefit as yours – Freeway won’t create two
things with the same name on a page. But you may easily be confused as
to which pane belongs to which carousel, and so on through the
controls. Remember, only the “base” Carousel elements need to be
located in the spot where the final effect will appear – all the rest
of the panes can be off on the pasteboard somewhere to make your page
easier to navigate. They’ll be hoovered off the page and inserted into
the parent element when the page publishes.
One last thing – the Carousel Actions weren’t ever designed for this
sort of layout, or tested with it. I’m not sure it’s going to work for
you at all.
