Home Page

Does the home page have to have a file name of “index.html”?

NO! However, if your site name is say, mysite.com, then if a user
simply enters the URL http://mysite.com then your ISP looks for a
page named index.html (or some other default, e.g index.htm ). If you
name your home page home.html then the user will have to enter http://mysite.com/home.html
to access it. Entering http://mysite.com may generate a list for
the user of all the files in that directory. It is a very good idea,
IMHO, to put some file named index.html in every folder you have on
your site.
