Horizontal Shift of HTML

I’m getting a horizontal shift to the left of a few pixels on a couple of the pages in my site relative to the other pages (same master page). (Shift shows up in Camino 1.5.x, Firefox 2.0.0.6, and Safari 1.3x on a 10.3.9 Mac.)

I don’t know if this is a beta issue or if I’ve done something else wrong.

Could someone take a look at my site and let me know what you see?

Could this be related to the slanting of the photographs/images on these pages (they’re the only pages on my site that have slanted graphics, and the only ones that shift)?

Otherwise, despite being a newbie to FWPro, I’m having fun with it.

The pages that are shifting are the ‘Book Design - Examples’ page and the ‘Experience’ page.

Thanks to anyone who can give me a clue on this.

Those pages are wider than the others, for some reason. Look for
something off on the pasteboard maybe. Zoom out, and use select all
to see the handles.

Those pages are longer than the others which brings up the vertical scroller in the browser making the page content shift to the left. If I make the window smaller so that all the pages have to scroll then there’s no shift.

Well, you both helped get me on the right track.

Nothing visual was off the pasteboard, so the handles all looked all right.

What were off the pasteboard were graphics on both pages–at least the unscaled versions of them, it seems. I had scaled them within FW, and they had somehow been scaled to 25% in item size and 100% in content size. They must have been scaled to fit the box size. They looked fine on-screen, even their handles, but on closer inspection the bottom insets showing in the dimensions inspector were negative numbers for all of them.

I rescaled the graphics (some externally) and they now don’t push the bottom of the page down.

Let me know if I’ve missed something else, but I think they’re okay now.

Thanks again to Walt and Nathan for putting me on the right path on this.

I saw the shift even when I had the window closed up quite small. I
am still thinking there is something on the right hand side of the
design, perhaps it’s on the pasteboard but set to publish as a layer.
That will generate the element, even if you can’t see it, and that
might throw off the width of the page in the browser’s mind.

Walt,

I had an element of the header graphic that bled off the top and right. I’ve adjusted it to only bleed off the top, based on your last tip. It’s the only element that seems to be beyond the right edge of the pasteboard.

Thanks.

Joe
