How do you put a hidden mailto in a WebYep Rich Text item?

Rather than put the actual email address?

do you want a word (like: click here)

then highlight the word and add a hyperlink.

Thanks Julie. I took a look at that before posting but when I saw only URL options, I never thought to include mailto: in the URL field.

But it works fine except it’s ignoring my style of ‘body’ and reverting to a blue underlined link.

Thanks

Edit - hyperlink - external - protocol: mailto: then put the email address - ok

keep the works highlighted -
inspector - unclick the underline and change the color

I think you’e talking from within FreeWay? I’m asking about in a WebYep Rich text item, that has been uploaded and then to be edited in a browser. The client can enter an email address but it needs to be hidden, as in Click here to email, as you say.

You need to format it as a link within the editor – not sure exactly
what controls your particular rich text widget offers you – but even
then, you would do as Julie says and enter mailto:the actual email
address as the entire link text, and it would just work. Now, unless
WebYep does e-mail masking, this will mean allowing any troll to slurp
this address out of your page faster than you can say Regular
Expressions.

That’s what I’ve done Walt thanks. I’ll check on the email masking from within Webyep and TinyMCE.

Thanks to all.

If you don’t find anything in WebYep or TinyMCE consider encoding your
email address using a service like this;
http://www.ihatespammail.com/

It’s a simple online tool I put together to offer a sub set of
features found in my Anti Spam action.

Tim.

Genius Tim, thank you. I already use your Anti Spam action, but this is perfect.

Thanks again.

Hi Kryten,

about styles and hyperlinks.

I use tinyMCE as the editor of choice. By styling the links in the inspector (links under pentool) of freeway, I could recognize, that tinyMCE uses those defined styles. Now - the problem is that I can`t say, if this is “working by accident” or if this is “the normal case”. But give it a try - I´d be happy to hear a “cool - it works” from you. If not I´ve to look for another explanation.

hi Tim

Just tried it out on a XHTML Strict page, but got problems with validation. Is this know?

Yes, thanks for reminding me. I’d a version here that I’d added a page
level input to and have just uploaded it. Select xhtml and you should
be set.
Thanks,
Tim.

Hi Tim

Thank you for reacting so quickly.

But I’m sorry, this xhtml version seems to encrypt the mailadress in a wrong way.

Apologies for that. I think I must have uploaded the wrong file.

Hi Tim

But now there is no xhtml version anymore…

(It’s OK with me to continue off-list, if you prefer. I do not mind some testing…

Sorry. I should have explained. I ended up changing the encoding
method to one that validates at all HTML levels (3.2 right through to
xhtml strict). Because of this the html level control in the form
wasn’t needed so it got taken out. Feel free to email me off list if
you feel the generated code isn’t working for you for whatever reason.
All the best,
Tim.
