How to create a client area inside a website

Hello
I’m building a new website, and need to create a “client area” with user and password. This area should access several information, such as reports, documents, etc.
Does anyone knows how can I create something like that?
Thanks a lot

Hello,

I am not sure if you are referring to an facility that will allow your client to change and manage the data within the site if you are then you may want to take a look at the following CMS systems, that will probably get you started.

Web Yep at

Pulse

and Perch

I have used WebYep at a basic level and it is easy to use and implement.

If you are looking for a facility that will allow different users to sign on with different user names and passwords and view information specific to them I am not sure…

Hope i have understood your question correctly and

I hope this gets you started.

John tnx a lot for the reply

The website I’m creating is for an accounting company.
The client area that I need to create, is for several clients get access to their folders, that means I’ll need a software program that allows to create multiple usernames and passwords, one for each client.
Do you know a program that allows that?
Tnx in advance

If the goal is to make these documents shareable between company members and not the universe as a whole, then I would likely choose a third party file sharing system like Dropbox or something similar. I just don’t believe in reinventing the wheel unless you can make it a better, cooler wheel.

If your client wants a more integrated feel (compared to a file sharing service like Box, Dropbox etc.) then look at Sitelok, http://www.vibralogix.com/sitelokpw/. It’s designed for just this purpose and is used by many FW users. There’s even a section on the Vibralogix site about using it with FW.

I would also recommend vibraloix sitelok… and as a side note I have also bundled an action with webyep that allows you to use webyep with sitelock and a standalone sitelock action

all the best max

And for a straightforward method that is all done with no extra software use the Password Protect Directories feature that comes with all reasonable hosting packages.

What this enables you to do is set user/password combos on any folders on your server.

In your instance I would have a folder for each client. ie Site Folder> Client1, Client2, Client3 etc. Set user/pass for each client folder.

Within each client folder there would be an index.html page with a list of links to all available files.

When the client tries to access yoursite.com/client1 they will be asked for their user/pass combo before they can gain access.

I have used Vibralogix Sitelok a few times and it’s quite easy to implement. Perch has recently added a members area into their CMS but it may be overkill to use a full blown CMS just for the members features.

Hi,

I have developed a simple client area you can add to an existing website.
