Are you trying this in Freeway 4 or 5? Freeway 5 beta includes the
Scripty stuff, I don’t know if there is an equivalent version of the
Action for Freeway 4.
You can try my Protaculous Action if you want to hand-code some
effects, but at this point it’s very much a face only a JavaScript
programmer could love. It does include a nice Carousel
implementation, but the rest of it is just foundation for hand-coding
the effects you want to use in an unobtrusive way.
At this stage, if you are interested in Prototype/Scriptactulous, and
have one or more of the many fine code examples open in front of you,
Protaculous will help you with the following bits in Freeway:
Including the libraries in your Freeway project so you can just
get on with trying the cool stuff.
Creating a single Unobtrusive Listener for the page load event,
into which you can add additional listeners for specific events and
elements on your page, like $('item1').observe('click',function(evt) {Event.element(evt).hide()});
I have lots of ideas for extending this Action, and Joe Billings (who
wrote the FW5 stuff) and Weaver (who wrote a far more advanced
MooTools wrapper Action) and I are planning to collaborate and make
this aspect of Freeway even more powerful and accessible.
If you really want to play with cool effects, and not Prototype/
Scriptactulous specifically, then run, don’t walk, to http:// www.coastalrugs.com/Actions and get the MooTools suite. It’s
supported, fully functional, includes many many effects, and is
generally great work by a great developer.
It’s also completely incompatible with Prototype et al. So there’s a
choice you need to make, at least until Weaver and Joe and I can get
things sorted and make Freeway a little more platform-agnostic.
