How to "snap objects to grid?"

I vaguely recall there is a way to make sure objects “snap” to an adjacent object or to a rule line.

how do I set that up?

I have searched the term and came up with nothing.

It’s in the ‘View’ menu—called ‘Snap to Guides’.

This stuff is all in the manual …

I vaguely recall […]

Objects can snap to guides and gridlines, but not to other objects.
In the View menu make sure Snap to Guides is selected. Show or hide
guides by choosing View > Guides.

Make new guides by dragging them out from the rulers at the top &
left of your document (choose View > Show Rulers if you can’t see
these), or make grids/guides by choosing Page > Margins & Grids or
Page > Create Guides.
