I see a “Bembo.swf” object mentioned in the code, but the headline
appears to be regular selectable HTML type, and the CSS doesn’t
mention anything beyond the usual web-safe suspects. But the type is
definitely Bembo, and I didn’t have Bembo enabled when I first
visited that page.

It uses SIFR (Scalable Inman Flash Replacement)
Aha! Thanks Dan, I have to admit that that’s an area thst I’ve not
looked at in any detail. I did notice some mention of that while
poking through the page source and related documents, but I didn’t
realise how well that could work!
Hi Keith
I did try this some time back and struggled big time… especially once I start using it for more than a heading or if I you try to use the font in different sizes and leading etc.
I am actually looking at the @font-face method at the moment. As this already supported by latest safari, chroma will probably support it because it uses the same version of webkits as safari and firefox is testing this in the new beta 3.1 plus if you also use a different version of the font for IE6 and 7 you can get those browsers to read the fonts too
an example of this is here for people who want to see how it looks using a non standard font: http://www.taptaptap.com/blog/final-numbers-for-july/

Absolutely. Now that I’ve seen both things, to me, the whole SIFR
thing looks like a two-dimensional hack wannabe compared to the
reality of the @font-face thing. Looks like we’re about to make
another big step forward.
