HTML Text does not look the same in Browser

Hi

Not too sure if this is a repeat - just keyed in a message then it disappeared into the ether.

Using Freeway Pro 5.1.3 on a 2.8 GHz Intel iMac running OS 10.5.4.

Basic stuff - CSS styled HTML text fills bounding box in Freeway but when its Previewed in Browser it falls 75% short - is this par for the course or am I missing something simple. When I convert it to graphic text it looks fine. This is on the Home page so I would like to use HTML text.

Thanks in anticipation

Hi Andy

Is it anywhere online that we can have a look?

Kind of sounds like you have a style setup but your text isn’t actually using it and is reverting to default style for page. Maybe?

Thank you both for replying.

I do not have the site set up at the moment so the best I can do is link you to a download of two PDFs of the Freeway page and the Browser interpretation.

Here is the amended link. What makes you think I am new to this?

Hi Andy,

Looks like the leading has been set back to 100%, select the text and
in the Styles Inspector of the Inspector palette click on the style/s
applied and remove the Leading value by clicking the - to the right of
it (it’s down the bottom in the Paragraph section).

That should solve the problem.

Cheers,

Joe

Hi Joe

Thanks for the reply. Right on the money! I did as you said and sure enough the Preview now looks like the Freeway page.

The leading style was originally set at 108% to vertically adjust the text. Where or how is the leading changed? Does that leading box only work on Graphic text?

Thanks

Andy

I found this confusing. There are text attributes that only seem to be in the pulldown menus and not in the inspector.

Why can’t all html text options show up in the inspector?

It seems wherever I try to increase the leading it changes it in Freeway but decreases it in the Browser. What am I doing wrong?

Browsers all use different means to describe this property. The one
that seems to work best is if you set your text size AND the line-
height (leading) in pixels. If you use percentages, you end up with
the old problem of “percent of what”. Plus, some browsers (Safari,
notoriously) round the percentages in surprising ways.
