html text on...EXPLORER

Help!
viewed on Explorer my text is “cut” on the right (2-3 letters missing).
I put in my page a normal layer (the green box with CSS on) and wrote in it my text.
As usual, no problems on Safari, Firefox, Opera and Chrome.
just Explorer.
thank a lot for answering!

Hi Andrea

Can you post a link to your page please so that we can see the underlying code.

now I’ve tried putting some border in the html layer (10px)
but I just have a mac, so I can’t visualize explorer.
thanks!

OK - I see a problem here with style39, style40 and possibly others

margin-right: -19px;

This pushes the text outside the container to the right side.

How/why did you add this margin?

Interestingly Explorer8 shows all the text. I presume your feedback was from earlier versions.

explorer 7, I think.
about the “margin.right: -19px”, I have no idea.
How can I work on the styles? In fact, I even did not know to have used them…
mora a designer than a programmer…
thanks!

While we are on the subject of styles you really need to name/edit your styles so that you can keep track of them. You have a mix of different sizes in these text boxes ie some questions are 11px, some are 10px etc.

Save/create a style for the question part and another for the answer and it will be a lot easier for you to apply them consistently.

How can I work on the styles?

Select the text that is giving you a problem and in the Text/styles inspector you will see the style that has been applied to it. When you click on the Cog you have the option to show Permanent Styles Only or Temporary Styles (use Temporary).

Now you can right click on a style and Edit Style (or with it selected you can use the Cog menu in the same way but here it is Edit Styles)

The Edit styles window will open showing a list of all the styles used in your document. (if you used the Cog menu) but if you Right Clicked the style then you will only see the info for that particular style.

With the editing window open you can choose to change any specific aspects of the style - including its name.

In your case I think I would select style24 and change its name to ‘question’ and style37 for ‘answer’

Then go through that section selecting the text and apply no style and then either question or answer where appropriate.

Look in the ‘Extended’ section when you are editing - but in saying that there is no style left in your list with those attributes.

You didn’t happen to copy/paste some text from Word by any chance?

If you do then you are better to copy into a plain text editor first before copying out again into your FW doc. This strips out any Word formatting.

There is also a Word Zapper action http://freewayactions.com/product.php?id=029
