HTML text styles

Hi all,

Maybe i’m doing something wrong here? I have created a text style called ‘Body Text’ using Helvetica, 12pt, black in colour etc and applied it to a paragraph of text within a HTML box.

I wanted the first line to be bold so I highlighted this text and then applied the ‘strong’ style making it appear bolder on screen.

When I preview or publish the entire paragraph is bold?

I don’t know if I am miss understanding how this works or simply not doing it right :S

If anybody could help or advise I would be grateful.

thanks

Jim

You essentially have to creat two styles. Your first Body Text style is for everything that isn’t bold. Because you have already established the font in the Body Text style, all you need to do is create a new style that adds your bold. Select your text then select the bold style.

hi chuckamuck

tried that but it either effects the entire paragraph or the first two lines. in this case i just want it to effect the first line of text.

I have a style called ‘body’ and apply it to a paragraph, then if I want a particular word bold I select it and choose ‘strong’ and it works fine. So, the principle of what you were doing is the right one. Just not sure why it’s not working for you.

Make sure you are selecting only the characters you would like bold and not the entire line.

There’s a difference between a body “class” style (the one with the period) and a body tag (the one without.) If you were to put “body” in the tag box (and delete the “name” field style name) then it’d affect all fonts on all pages of your site. You could then put bold using the “strong” style in the CSS palette wherever you wanted bold to be.
