I am stumped again

Working in trial version. I began by using the Tutorial to add graphics and content, et. to my first page. I did not use the content suggested for the web site designed for Murice Crowley, I used my own stuff.

Anyway, After I completed my first page is when the tutorial mentioned the “Master Page” and it’s importance for creating some of the same features on all pages. Then the tutorial says it will walk me through this process by starting over with an New website.

I am stumped on how to put what is currently on my newly created “Home” page onto the Master page so my headings and graphics will be the same on all pages.

Is there a way I can do this without starting over.

Suggestions appreciated.

The way to solve your problem is to select the objects you want to appear on your Master Page and copy and paste.

Hi there,

You can control-click (or right-click if you have a two or more button mouse) on the page you want to make a master page, then choose “Make Master…” from the pop-up menu, give the master page a name and you are good to go.

Just create new pages based on the new master page you have just created and all the content on the master page will be on this (and every page) created from the new master.

Hope that helps.

Select something that you’d like to be on the master page, CUT it
(removing it from the original layout), then go to the master page
and paste.

Freeway is smart enough to put the item back into the same relative
location on the page, and because it is in the master page it will
appear on every page that uses that master page.

There are things that you’ll need to become aware of when working
with master page objects on your pages. Note the appearance of two
checkboxes in the Inspector palette when you select one of these
master page-derived items on one of your pages.

Use Master Content - text or image content will be taken from the
original master page item. The moment you change the content of the
item, this checkbox will be unchecked. If you check it again then the
contents will be reset to what’s on the master page.

Use Master Settings - uses the size, position and rotation (for
graphic boxes) settings of the master page item. Change the item and
this will be unchecked. Click the checkbox again and it will revert
back to the master page item’s settings.

If an item has been ‘unlinked’ from the original master page item (by
you working with it) then changes made to the master page item won’t
affect it. At least, not unless you recheck those checkboxes. Either
way is fine, just learn how it works so you get a clear idea how you
can make it work for you.

This page “Home” can became a new master in its own right,

just go to the menu: make master!

Omar,

Yes I stumbled across that yesterday. But that was after I had gone through the steps suggested above and created a Master.

The tutorial with the trial version makes learning the program a little difficult. It will not print, understandably, but you have to keep clicking back and forth between the pages and the tutorial and some things are not addressed at all.

Thank goodness for this group.
