png images created by FW actions, i.e. effects, work fine in IE6. But png graphics imported into a FW page aren’t transparent and sometimes won’t appear in IE6. Does anyone know why?
If you just import a PNG image into a regular Graphic box, Freeway
will convert it to whatever you have set as your default output
format for high-bit images (by default, JPEG at 75% quality). If you
bring a PNG image in as a pass-through, then Freeway will not touch
it in any way, but of course then you will lose the scaling and
cropping wonderfulness. As Nathan says here, you have control over
each image’s output format and compression settings. If you click on
the output tab in the Inspector while the image is selected, you’ll
see all the controls to either verify the current format or change it
to something else.

I haven’t had a problem, once I’ve imported the pngs I go to the

I may be wrong in your case and there may be something else going on.
I appreciate the responses to my query. I don’t import the image as pass-through. The images are created in Illustrator and imported into FW as ai or png files. Then I use the Graphic Item tools to set the image to png at millions of colors. Still IE6 is very consistent to mess up displaying the image, either showing a background or not showing the image at all.
I’ve changed most the the problem pngs to gifs except here - http://www.edgeoutreach.com/EdgeVision/
There should be a png logo, OpenEyes OpenHearts, in the left side of the banner. In IE6 there’s nothing.
I can use gifs if I have to. It would just be more satisfying if IE6 could be made to work with this.
Well IE6 is on it’s way out, so I wouldn’t plan on having Microsoft put a support ticket to figure it out. I’m sure there’s a rather long list of support tickets for that browser…and it’s odd that they tried to fix things in IE7…got fidgety with it…and now are moving on to IE8 which may use Webkit.
