IE7 Form Control

In an inline layout I have a dynamic “select” element (picking list)
in a div. The form control is styled to be 100px wide, its containing
div has no width attribute. The menu options are long and extend
beyond the 100px width of the control but renders as expected in most
browsers.

In IE 7 (and probably 6) the list options are cut down to slightly
less than the width of the control (100px). I can easily fix this
with conditional statements or simply remove the width attribute from
the control but I would like to keep it a uniform width if possible.
Does anyone know if this is a known quirk of IE7? If it’s not then at
least I know I made a mistake with the CSS or layout.

Try adding a rule like this:

select option { width: auto }

No idea if that will help.
