Just a quick question. Is there a reason why browsers on the PC don’t
render text as nicely as on the Mac. I don’t have a PC, so don’t know
if it’s across the board or just IE, but to me, sites just look ugly
in comparsion. I suppose PC users are used to it.
If you consider some of the PC screens out there and the blurry
resolutions that some user sets on them, I can see why Microsoft went
for pixel sharp fonts. I suppose Apple has a closed shop with good
sharp screens so they can do what they want.

I have seen IE on Vista, and it cannot render the fonts correctly.
Yes, they are sharper but the shape of the characters is wrong. I
suppose it’s down to personal tastes anyway.

Thanks for that. I must admit I have only seen a screen rendering so appreciate the better advice.
There’s a utility called : cleartype : which is not configured as standard with Windows OS, but once it’s been switched on [so to speak] it helps a lot.
Also your clients will think you are a God especially if they are over 40.

[ahem] As far as the crispness of the shapes, yes. The typographer
in me shudders at the idea that the shape of a specific typeface
character could be a subjective thing. Not beyond hinting at least.
