I have used iFrame to show two websites that are related only by subject matter in a website that I have just created.
The problem is that when links are clicked on the two websites contained in the iFrames, they normally open up on the same page and my original website is “lost”. Is there any way to make sure that any links clicked within the iFrame are opened in a new page?
I’m afraid I am only just learning about iFrames myself and so can not advise on your problem yet. I am looking at these this afternoon and if I come across an answer I will post.
However, I have a question for you ! I like your web site, very nice. How did you create the photo gallery wher a click changes to the next image ?
Thank you for your response. I’m glad you like the site, it has only just gone live so I hope it works out. It is my brother-in-law’s new venture.
The photo gallery was created with Jalbum which is totally free!!! There are some great “skins” to add to the slide shows which are created within the program. I used one called PhotoStack, also free.
If you have no control over the web sites that are referenced within your iFrame then I think that there isn’t much you can do to add Target _blank to the URLs (which gets a link to open in a new window)
The links would need to be changed within those sites.
Thanks for the information regarding Jalbum.
I have give it a go with some sample photographs and it’s great. Easy to set up and looks great in an iFrame
If you want to add a link to an external page in an iframe > highlight the text in the iframe which is to be the link > then press Command:K to open the hyperlink dialogue box > then paste the full url to the external site in the top box > then press the target drop down and set it to blank > then click ok > the link should then open in a new window or tab depending on the users preferences
pressed enter before finishing my message ( D’oh ! ) …but as Delta Dave says there is no way that I know of to make an external website link open in a blank page, I have tried in the past also, unless Walter knows any better…
