Thanks Walter, nice idea. I had thought of that, but unfortunately the Firewire cable I have is the old style connector, whereas the new Mac has the new style (Firewire 800…?) so my cable won’t work (i.e. it fits the old Mac but not the new one!)
In the meantime I have made a ‘bootable’ clone of my hard drive onto an USB external drive. I’ve hitched that up to the new mac and booted from the external drive ok, so the boot copy works.
So now…how to get the boot copy from the external drive onto the iMac itself…?
