Image guardian/fading slideshow

Hi, I have created a site that has images using the fading slideshow action that I also wanted to add the image guardian to.
The fading slideshow works great but the image guardian fails. I suspect it’s because of the slideshow action. Does anyone know of a workaround this?
Thanks

image guardian fails? how? Does it just not work on the slideshow instance or does it fail in general and not protect anything else on the page? Any error messages?

Also, what versions of each Action are you using? Do you have a live page that we could look at?

Brief overview of the fading slideshow actions (if they are the ones from me), they are likely not subject to the way the Image Guardian (IG) action would ever protect an image. Many of the processes likely happen outside IG’s view.

Hello

Yes the slideshow action is from you Weaver and I should say it’s a very fine action and I’m not being critical in any way, shape or form!

The image guardian fails only on the images that have the slideshow action. It works perfectly well elsewhere on the page.

Versions: Fading Slideshow - 1.3
Image Guardian - not sure, can’t see any version no.

You can view the page at www.dancefactor.info/dance_factor.html

Thanks

Thank you for the page and version.

Image Guardian is not going to do anything for you with that version of the fading slideshow anyways. The images are drawn from a JS array of urls in the document head.

If disabling the Image Guardian on that item alleviates your problems, then please do that.

Not sure if I fully understand your reply there weaver - does that mean there’s a more recent version of fading slideshows? The bit about the images from JS array of urls doesn’t connect with me!

The problem I am having is that the image guardian doesn’t work so I’m not sure if disabling it would have any positive effect.

Thanks anyway

Hi David,
I’m not that shocked to learn that the two actions don’t play well together as
each plays around quite extensively with the original HTML code that displays
the image. Weaver’s slideshow action is targeting the image and feeding it new
images and transitions over time which is OK unless the Image Guardian action
has been applied. At this point I suspect the action gets confused that the
image that was there a minute ago has gone and, unknown to it, the Image
Guardian action action has ‘messed it about’.
I’ll take a closer look at your sample page and see if there is anything I can
do to make the two actions talk to each other. I suspect they won’t but I’ll
take a look anyway.
Regards,
Tim.

To answer the thought about the Fading Slideshow; yes, there is a more recent iteration of it (part of the Mootools Suite). However…It is applied to the FW page and does things entirely differently.

The version you are using is more than adequate for your scenario, and actually is more likely to end up playing nice with others that the newer version. You are more than welcome contact me off-list if you would like to explore this newer possibility.
