Image problems

Hi all

I put this in as an attachment to another thread, but got no feedback, so I go for a new one.

Using 2 slave groups gives me a problem. When I move the cursor from top to bottom, it refuses to show images when it changes from one group to another. And starting from the bottom, I suddenly get the wrong images showing up!

I have checked all the rollovers and slaves and cannot find out what the problem is.

Please - I have tried everything - also gone through the rollover/slave tutorials. But I have still not managed to solve the problem.

Any help ?

Take another look at your rollover setup. All of the images that
don’t work are in the Aqua chain. Make sure that your bottom set of
rollover button – fog through flowers3 – are set to target the Aqua
chain rather than the Indigo one.

Hi Walter

If you start over again from the bottom, all the images will appear correctly. If you start from the top it will stop at the fog, but then display the white flowers and then a wrong image at the bottom. But the right image appears, when you move to the ‘Home’ button. It’s a mess :frowning:

It is probably worth removing all actions from those items to start
with. Then follow Walter’s advice, building things up again and being
very careful to think through what you are doing at every step.

But I have to ask - why are you using a different rollover slave
chain for the last three? Wouldn’t it be simpler if you used the
default chain (the one called Indigo) for everything, and just
assigned each item the appropriate slave ID number?

Give it a try like that. I think your problems come from using two
different chains…

Thanks k

I have thought about putting all in e.g. aqua.

I started in indigo, but some rollovers had been used by another function, so I thoought it was ok to use a different group.

Logically, it should not matter - or ?

But I might change all to aqua and see if that solves the problem.

I’ll let you know

Well - yes and no. When you use one chain, images are switched on and
off together. If you use a different chain for some of the items, an
item that’s controlled by one chain won’t be turned off when another
chain sends a hide/show instruction.

I think what’s happening is that you have one layer being shown but
another is not being hidden at the same time, when you step between
two different chain settings in a web page. If the item that should
be hidden but isn’t happens to be higher up in the layering order, it
will obscure the thing that should appear.

So, logically, it does matter. Use a single chain; that’s how this
kind of thing is meant to be done.

If you use Indigo rollovers elsewhere on the same page and don’t want
to have those things involved in the main rollover behaviour, then
use a different chain. For ALL that stack of rollover images and
triggers.
