Image search engine

I’ve always wanted an image search engine. This one looks exciting and promising, it will be interesting to follow their progress. Their services section has some very cool and interesting features as well.

HI Ernie,
They’ve been around for a while and most of that time in beta. The service is certainly useful for looking for image plagiarism although as I noted in this post their database appears quite limited;

I’m hoping that Google either buy them or roll their own. A tool like this with access to Google’s image database would be very powerful.
Regards,
Tim.

I’ve always favoured Google’s image search (click the camera icon in the search bar in Image search mode) when checking for, as Tim suggests, unauthorised use of my images.

However, Tineye does occasionally throw up some usages missed by Google. Use one alongside the other maybe?

Hi David, I’ve not had good luck finding image that way in Google – in
fact, I’ve found better matches and variations with TinEye than Google.

Especially with Google’s “similar” images - so way off. Still, I do get
good google results when I’m making “themed” image researches.

Overall, I am hopeful image searching will improve – before I am dead
anyway. :wink:

I remember this also.

I installed the plugins and searched images that I knew are on the web, but it seems to search only the path in the site - so unless someone is hijacking my image I don’t understand how it would find it elsewhere.
