Importing Appleworks 6 into Intaglio

Using the demo version of Intaglio and Mac Leopard and trying import my Appleworks 6 drawings.

I can copy and paste but can not edit the elements once they are pasted into Intaglio. It pastes in as only one element (graphic?) which can be edited. Is there a trick to pasting is individual items?

Appleworks does not show PDF as Save As option, the ones that do show don’t import as separate items.

In AppleWorks, Save as a PDF from the Print dialogue box.

In Intaglio, the imported image isn’t completely accurate, but all objects can be edited.

To edit individual objects, select the main object and go to Object>Ungroup. You might have to ungroup several times.

IanB, thanks for the help. I was looking for the PDF format under the Save As menu, not the Print menu. Silly me.

This worked fine. Thanks again for the help!

You may also copy/paste the graphic from AppleWorks into Intaglio, then choose under the Object menu, Convert->Picture For Editing and the object will break into its component parts. I note that sometimes a single line of text will wrap to two lines with this conversion. Simply select the text and in the text dialog box, at the bottom, uncheck the ‘wrap lines to width’ check box and it will revert to one line.

As am I just learning Intaglio, a refinement to my last post. Under ‘Preferences’, the ‘Clipboard’ tab, just check ‘Convert Vector Files for Editing During Import’ and all clipboard operations will automatically break the import into components, i.e., no need to do the operation manually.
