Importing Bitmaps 1px Border Error

Hi everyone,

For some reason if I import a rectangular bitmap TIFF/PNG, I get a 1px dark border on the right and bottom edges. This is frustrating because I need the bitmap to exactly display the canvas size for later exports, being 1px out is no good.

If I leave the graphic top left of the page, it exports again at the right size. When I move the graphic to centre of page, it adds a 1px border on the right and bottom.

The behaviour appears to be erratic. I can’t always guarantee that the export size matches the import size.

Anyone else get this?

Intaglio 3.0.1,
OS X 10.4.11,
MacBook Pro

You see this in Intaglio or when you import an image from Intaglio into another app? It could be that the image exported from Intaglio has transparent pixels around the edge that aren’t handled correctly when viewed on the other app.

Hi Nick,

Sorry for rather late reply, I’ve been busy on other stuff…

My post wasn’t very clear on the import. It’s when I import a graphic into Intaglio from another bitmap program (in this case Graphic Converter).

Basically I’m using a bitmap as a “canvas” so that I know how to properly scale the vectors in Intaglio prior to bitmap export. So the canvas size is actually quite critical for some applications.

What happens is that Intaglio adds a 1px border to the right and bottom edges of the imported bitmap. This forced me through a resizing cycle - in Intaglio - until the Intaglio vector art (and the canvas backdrop) export back to exactly the same size as the original import.

Fussy - I know - and it proved quite a tricky exercise. But just something that I needed to get exactly right.

Hope this clears up any confusion

So if this bug is removed, it will make life a whole lot easier when using Intaglio to create vector art for bitmap export to a specific size.

FurrTrapp, Nick

Hi all, this is my first post prompted by FurrTraps comment. I am having exactly the same problem. e.g. Create a rectangular box, add fill, remove stroke and save selected as either a jpeg or png.

When imported into freeway for a tiled background the lines appear to the bottom and right.

Any thoughts yet on a fix?
