Importing text with links

Can anyone tell me how to import text and preserve the hyperlinks?

Hi Graham,
There are a couple of ways you can do this depending on what format your original text is in. If the text is in an HTML format then you can simply add it into your page as a markup item (Insert > Markup Item…). Alternatively you can use the Auto Link Action (Auto Link - ActionsForge) to hunt and auto link addresses in the text. You will need to add your own markers in the text for the Action to pick up on.

Can you post a link to the text you want to include so we can see how you can best include this?
Regards,
Tim.

Hi Tim

The text is in an .rtf file created with TextEdit.

Hi Graham,
The easiest way to do this is going to be to export the RTF document to HTML (File > Save as…) and to edit this to remove the bits of the HTML page you don’t need.

  1. Export the RTF document to HTML using File > Save as…
  2. Open the resulting HTML file in a plain text editor like Text Wrangler (Bare Bones Software | TextWrangler is now BBEdit -- and still free! It's time to switch.)
  3. Copy all of the HTML between the and tags
  4. In Freeway select Insert > Markup Item…
  5. Paste your HTML into the resulting dialog box

This will get the raw text and links into your page. If you want the styling as well you can copy the CSS styles (also in the original HTML file) into your Freeway page.
Regards,
Tim.
