inspector different than in manual

I just got freeway 5 and for some reason the inspector in the “using freeway 5” manual looks different than what i have on the screen.
in the manual you can see icons depicting the different effects and on screen they do not show.

Can anyone give me a hint about this?

thanks

Eyal.

The icons are contextual; draw a graphic box on your page and they’ll
appear.

For some reason it does no appear.
i do draw out a graphic rectangle and nothing.
Does the fact that i have version 4pro and version 5pro on the same computer have anything to do with it.

under the brush icon i get a “Background” tab and not like in the manual.

Possibly because your objects are either layered or not layered? This
can mean you get different controls in the Inspector.

Or a different icon is selected in the top of the Inspector? (Sorry,
but gotta cover all bases.)

Or - the most likely reason - you have an HTML object selected and
the screengrab relates to a graphic object, or vice versa?

Hay Keith

  1. Layered / not layered - still the same
  2. correct icon on the inspector
  3. insert - graphic item – still the same

in the manual the color dropdown menu is directly under the brush button.
in my case it is the background tab.
same with an HTML item i get the background tab under the button.

i get wysiwyg icons under the effect tab and not directly under the button like in the manual.
furthermore i get less options than in the manual.
the ones i get are - outer shadow, inner shadow, outer glow, inner glow and forground.

is it possible that the manual was made with a different version 5? i have the most updated one.
is there a way to change the display method of the inspector?

is there some way to upload a screen capture to this thread?

Can you try deleting Freeway’s preferences?

Quit Freeway. Go to your User folder → Library → Preferences, look
for a file called com.softpress.FreewayPro.plist

Move that to the Trash, then relaunch Freeway.

If the problem still persists, you may have to email Softpress
Support (support [at] softpress [dot] com).

Hope that helps.

Have you restarted your Mac?

I ask because it’s such a rare thing to do these days, and it may
just clear whatever glitch you have.

If not, then it’s Softpress Support, I’m afraid.

Nope. I suspect that it was made with a very slightly older version
of Freeway 5, or those may be grabs from Freeway Express. When I look
at the images in the PDF I do see some cosmetic differences. If
that’s really all it is, cosmetic, then don’t worry about it at all!

I see this from time to time with major software updates, especially
where there are two ‘levels’ for the software. I imagine (and hope)
that Softpress will work on updating the guide at some point, but it
doesn’t surprise me that this didn’t get tweaked during the final
push where we were all playing with the public betas and final fixes
were being made to the software itself.

Nope, put it somewhere on your own site and tell us where it is.
Hundreds of us read this using email rather than by visiting the web
site, and it would be a bit much if people could push file
attachments through to all of us without warning!

I hope they bring it back.
i rather liked those wysiwyg icons.

Now we have to hope that they finish making the full user and reference guides soon. those for version 4 were great.

By the way k i did not get if on your version you do see those icons like in the manual.

No, not exactly like the manual. As mentioned in my last post, I’m
guessing the grabs were made with a slightly early version of Freeway
5.

The document itself is a pretty good one, although yep, it’ll be
great to see the Freeway 5 versions of the rest of the docs!

The screengrabs in the manual are from Freeway Express. In Express,
graphic effects options are presented as a group of preset
combinations, each of which has an icon to click on in the Inspector.
In Pro you can add and remove each of the graphic effects
individually, hence the different interface - this allows complete
flexibility to combine all the effects however you wish.

The Using Freeway 5 Guide came with the update that i bought to freeway.

it is not a full user guide, just the basics and some tutorials for getting started.

I suppose you also get it if you download the evaluation version from softpress.

The Using Freeway guide is included in the application, and is
available from the Help menu within Freeway.
