Intaglio swaps units when

When I create a drawing ( 1:100 cm ) in Intaglio and reopen it to continue, the units are changed to something I really cant figure out. A line supposedley 120 units long ( cm ) becomes 3402 “units”. I happens all the time and my work around is select all - copy - paste to new document.

But when that new document is saved and reopen, all units are changed again - 120 to 3402 etc.

What do I do wrong.

When You set the measurements/ dimensions or grid, there is an option which has to be checked before You close the window.

It says “Use (ruler dimentions grid or anything) in a new documents” …

Checking this, will make a new set of default properties for new documents. Otherwise, Intaglio comes back to original default settings, which is not really what You want.

If You save a document, the information about rulers, dimensions and grid is saved with it, so if reopened, it gets the settings right.

If You start a new document, intaglio uses it’s defauls settings.

Try to set Your grid , dimensions and a few rulers and once done it will never change…

My system is 10.5.8 with Intaglio 3.2 installed.

Hi,
When I use the scale ruler I have to go through the seven remaining ruler options and make sure that the “this ruler is active” box is not checked. Intaglio can toggle between different rulers (option clicking on the ruler? something like that) This is not helpful when you are trying to draw at a particular scale. That Intaglio can draw to scale is terrific, I wouldn’t be able to use it if it didn’t, but the rulers feature could use some work.

Hmm… I don’t have any issues here with drawing to scale, measuring to that scale or printing to scale… And any issues with rulers…

But Your problems may be caused by these saved documents in which the scale and all the setup is different that You want to… And once You open this kind of document, everything gets messed up…

I think that I was dealing with this at the beginning and finally deleted all the documents which had different setups…

Hope this helps…

Getting back to this issue - again.

I have identified what units Intaglio returns to - points. I have also set ALL rulers to cm ( with various scalefactors ) and checked the box “Use Ruler and Measurement Settings in new Documents”.

New documents open with correct settings BUT when saving and reopening a document with meausurement information in it, Intaglio returns to show all the measurements in points, but WITH scalefactors preserved.

If I create an empty document of correct size and Copy/Paste the information from a Saved and Reopened document into it, all measurements returns to correct values - almost. 60 is sometimes displyed as 59.9999, sometimes as 60. I can correct this by dragging all garbled measurement lines, in both ends, thus returning the drawing to good looks and continue to work on it.

BUT, when i Save and Reopen, it starts all over again.

The problem is probably the Dimensions. You have to change both Measurements and Dimensions to centimeters.

Go to Layout>Dimensions and change the units to Centimeters. Tick the ‘Use these settings…’ box and quit. When you next open Intaglio, open the Geometry dialogue box. All objects will be sized in centimetres.

I don’t know about your measurements problem (60 becomes 59.999). A simple workaround is to change the value in the Geometry dialogue box.
