Intel iMacs

Hello. I am about to make the switch to an Intel based Mac and wonder if these machines are more prone to internet borne viruses then there predecessors? Any opinions, and if so, should I install any specific software to prevent any attacks?
Thanks

No more than any other Mac OS X computer. There is nothing about the
Intel platform that is inherently insecure. There is that other
popular operating system, made in Redmond, Washington, which is the
gravitational center of the virus-writing universe, and if you should
use Boot Camp or one of the other virtualization techniques to
install it on your new iron, you will be as wide-open to attack as
anyone else running that operating system.
