I’ve just finished rebuilding my website, and out of curiosity tried it out on an iPad in an Apple Store I (I don’t own one myself). It works fine, but I found myself wanting to swipe from page to page, and to swipe the carousels as well. I came back to my Mac assuming there would be some actions that would use gestures, but I can’t find any. Am I looking in the right place? After searching for gestures and iOS on this forum and on the Freeway website I get the impression that the iPad is regarded as poor cousin to the computer display, but I think that we should be concentrating more and more on designing specifically for tablets. But as I said, maybe I’m looking in the wrong place?
There are a few cool and advanced sites that capitalize on sideways
scrolling, but I think your experience is likely more a result of paradigm
adjustment. Going from mac to ios took some getting used to for me –
actually, I had a devil of a time between ios gestures and laptop gestures.
Sometimes I still find myself trying to swipe my imac screen.
