Is their a trick to receiving email on iPhone 4s?

Sorry guys, a bit off topic here…I can send but not receive. With HH and the only settings options on the phone using POP are Host name, User Name, Password. All entered correctly, but can’t send… and network is Three (in the UK).

Just wondering if any other HH users have achieved this?
Ta muchly.

You should have an SMTP setting somewhere in there (Outgoing mail server) maybe this is what you need to set.

Thanks Mike. Well as I understand it, SMTP is for mail out, which is working, and POP is mail in. So SMTP works as in sending mail, but POP does not and I can’t see any other options in the mail settings for mail in. I have set SMTP to port 25, although HH seems to work with port 26 too.

Sorry, I understood you could not send from your first message.

Default ports are generally: 25, 465 and 587 although HH might have set 26 also as 25 gets blocked by some internet service providers but you would need to check with HH on this.

HH = Have Host?

If so, I’ve been sending and receiving email on my iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch before that for ages with no problem.

That said, I use IMAP, not POP.

Here are some settings that I see on my iPhone.

Incoming Mail Server
Host Name mail.t2studios.com
User Name Joe+t2studios.com

Advanced
Incoming Settings
Use SSL Off
Authentication Password
IMAP Path Prefix INBOX
Server Port 143

I wonder if the “+” in the User Name is where you’re having problems.

Probably not much use but:
Generally a + in the user name is accepted with a WHM/cpanel set up ‘which I believe HH is’, my server set up is a WHM/cpanel set up so Joe+t2studios.com or email@hidden would be accepted as the Username, of course HH would need to confirm that.

Gents - thank you. (HH=HaveHost √…) As a test I set up another address I use on the same domain (therefore same login info other than password/username) using same domain, actually it was the one associated with this FW account, and that worked first time. So I deleted the address I was having problems with and ‘re-entered’ the info and it worked first time. The info I entered the first time was no different to the second time, but the addition of another address using the same mail POP and SMTP settings seemed to have galvanised or KICKSTARTED (nudge nudge) something.

Gents, thank you for your responses.
