In the past I’ve used WebYep and Max’s FW action for simple CMS tasks. It’s always worked great and I would like to continue using it in new projects.
Recently I’ve seen some reports online mentioning problems when using WebYep with Mac OS10.9 Maverick. This has got me worried. Since WebYep has gone open-source, since there’s no one to update it.
Is it still safe to use WebYep with Freeway? If there are problems, do they just affect us when we are building the Freeway website? Or will visitors also have trouble when they visit the finished website?
WebYep runs on the server, not your Mac. I doubt that your Mac would have any problems with it anyway, even if you were hosting your site there (or just testing it int the Apache Web server on your Mac).

Yes, that certainly seems to make sense! I must admit I’m a PHP idiot and depend heavily on Max’s FW Action to make it work.
So, I should not worry, right? WebYep is still working great for Freeway user.
This is what I get for hanging around non-FP online forums and believing things like this:

I seem to be having a problem with the webyep plugin and mavericks (os x 10.9). I get this error message in one project when trying to publish via ftp or local:
Maverick seems to mess up my photoshop too. They have bugs!

Maybe this is a RapidWeaver bug, then. It’s not possible for WebYep to care about the OS on your Mac, because it’s entirely installed on the server and runs there. But the plugin for RW (or, I suppose for Freeway) could be affected, if there is an issue in the application when run under that OS.

Hi Craig
I can reassure you that webyep works fine and as Walter has mentioned mavericks has nothing to do with the cms. The only issue is if the plugins written for dreamweaver, freeway and rapidweaver stop working within the applications.
I haven’t looked into the rapidweaver plugin because I don’t use it but the freeway one is fine under mavericks and so is the dreamweaver one as well. As for development then yes its open source but that doesn’t stop development. At the moment its going through a big big change. and I hope this will be ready for people to test in the new year
here are two screen shots to show what it will look like all the best max
Walt and Max, thank you for your input. I had scary visions of something changing in the way the OS or browser interacted with WebYep. It sounds like that is not the case. I’m also glad to hear there is something new coming from Max.
Todd, very artistic website. I like what you did with the curved wood motif. Interesting comments in your blog about MODX and Perch cms. But being a PHP idiot, I will have to stay with WebYep and Max.
Regarding Perch and MODX, perhaps my blog posts don’t convey my experience with both CMS as completely as I hoped. I’m not a PHP wizard either, and while it’s true both systems do require (to varying degrees) some surface PHP work it’s not anything that I - as a PHP novice - would consider a deal-breaker, assuming you’re willing to put a toe (or two) outside of your comfort zone. You might be amazed at how much you can accomplish with both systems with no or little understanding of PHP. And oddly enough of the two I think MODX is in many ways easier to grasp and use than Perch despite being more powerful.
