JavaScript warning

Since my FW pro update to 5.3.1 I am in trouble. It is almost impossible to generate my site or upload it.
Even if I just want to preview a page in FW, a pop up window comes up with a Javascript error. Unfortunately this window is EMPTY, does not show any content so I do not know about the reported error. After hitting the ok button, it pops up again, after second ok, the page shows up. Now this behaviour is shown with every page. What can I do?
Stupid me, I unfortunately replaced the former prg version, which worked fine.

Thanks for help,
Thomas

I dont know how long ago you upgraded but usually (especially with a version change) a backup file is created. ie yourdoc[FW4].freeway This of course may be to old if it was an upgrade from 5 to 5.3 that threw a spanner in the works.

The other solution is to try and track down the dodgy javascript by a process of elimination. You can usually see the dots on the site panel disappearing as the pages are generated to give you an idea which page is the culprit.

The javascript warning shows up with every page! And it does it only since I upgraded two days ago…

I am sure you have checked but do you have any actions applied to any of the pages, I guess an action could throw a javascript error if something where to break between one version of FW and another but strange that it is blank, so maybe this is a FW problem. This might be a pain to check although if you where to make a copy of the site and then remove some of the pages from that copy and go through a process of illimination to see if it is an action… I know, this could be a pain.

I have had many errors from Freeway but none with an empty window, maybe if the first option turns nothing up you could try deleating FW and reinstalling to see if that does the trick.

You could also contact softpress support and see if they have any ideas, if you send them the site file they will be able to illiminate any issue if there.

I had with one of theprevious 5.x.x updates probems with the Link Text Style Action which gave me Javascript warnings.
And, I had problems with the recent 5.3.1 (discovered my second bug) so I’m waiting as well for news from Softpress.
Bug is that text in the extended field does not get formatted to HTML entities. (ticket [#ESA-21434-632] bugreport FW 5.3.1

I had a javascript warning on every page (80 page site) a little while
ago and no matter how many times I ‘Cleared the Warning’ saved, closed
etc. it didnt help. Basically because you are just clearing the
warning you are not doing anything about the problem. I went through a
few pages and removed the action from the page it got stuck on (when
FW alerted me after publishing or previewing in browser), then cleared
the warning, saved, closed, opened up again and tested to see if it
was now ok. When it was I then went back to the page where I had the
problem to see if there was anything on that page that was causing the
conflict.

Not sure if this will work for you, but it did for me.There was
something on the page that was affected the action.
