Hey Walt, I know this is ancient subject, but just tried using your Image Replacement action in FW5 b3…failed miserably. Not sure I was using it correctly, but once the action is applied to an html item the only setting I see is to choose an h tag. Am I missing something?

You need to apply it to a graphics box, not an HTML box. You make a
graphic text box, put your headline in the box as graphic styled
text, and then when you apply the action, it converts that item to an
H(level) tag as you choose, fiddles with the styles of that H tag,
and sets the graphic you made as the background image. I haven’t
tried it in Freeway 5 yet, but I suspect that it will just work.

Ah… It did cross my mind that a graphic object might work, just didn’t try it. This use is not exactly what I had in mind, but a cool thing never the less. I’ll save it for a rainy day.

Hi, I am currently using the IMAGE REPLACEMENT action referred to above. I’m working in Freeway 5.3 Pro.

All works well with master page items which have the action applied to them. As soon as I place new graphic text into the box on an individual page and apply the action, preview in any browser & the graphic text seems to be replaced by an un-styled heading. ie. Just Alt Text.

The graphic text items are Adobe Illustrator files which are imported into a graphic box.

I’ve tried deleting the image box and creating a new one, re importing the graphic text and no joy.

Any suggestions would be great.

Thanks
Matt Covarr

Have you saved the Freeway document you’re working in? Try this, just
as an experiment. Make a new Freeway document, specify a new site
folder for publishing, and immediately save the Freeway doc somewhere
on your disk. Then start messing with this Action. I have encountered
this bug before, and could never work out what was happening. But like
SCSI voodoo, having the file saved before I apply the Action seemed to
fix things.

The underlying issue is a core (Freeway) bug dealing with Action-
specified files. This was a very difficult Action to write, with
multiple work-arounds tried to route around this problem. Mostly they
work, but there are a few cases where they do not.
