jQuery Book

The other day someone kindly turned me onto a limited-time (it’s over)
free pdf copy of, “jQuery: Novice to Ninja” on the Sitepoint site <http://www.sitepoint.com/books/jquery1/

. If jQuery is of interest to you then you may want to put this one
on the short-list. It’s nicely written and while it assumes you have a
good grasp of CSS and HTML it’s not overly geeky so even a javascript
beginner should be able to get their head around it.

Since I’m talking about js libraries I also recommend “Prototype and
script.aculo.us” by Porteneuve <Pragmatic Bookshelf: By Developers, For Developers

. Not quite as easy a read as above but probably(for the time being
at least) the definitive book for Proto/scripty.

Yes I bought the jQuery: Novice to Ninja PDF in April for $5.99 (and got Epub included) so I was a bit peeved when it appeared for nothing!

Oh well - It just shows that it pays to be patient.

And lucky. If I wasn’t given a heads-up it would have gone under the
radar. Makes me wonder how many other great deals I miss on a daily
basis. I don’t like to think too much about that. ; )

They often do good deals - that last one was 5 books in pdf and epub for the price of one. $30 for 5
