Layout issues - tables

whilst building my new site, I have set-up a table layout in which to contain the various elements - particularly to keep elements in place on a cross browser platform.

I’m a little confused…

Inside a certain box within the table, I want to have 2 ‘rollover’ buttons.

I have made these button graphic files 50x15, and marked out the exact place in which they will reside in that frame to the same dimensions.

However when I place the graphic within the table frame it expands by a few pixels???

I have set the graphic to align - top in the inspector palette which helps, but there is still 1 extra pixel in the height field = 16x50 instead of the 15x50??

So when I preview the site the rollover state seems to jump!

Any ideas guys

Try this,

  1. Select the image and copy it
  2. Delete the image
  3. Place your cursor in the cell and paste the image in again.

Sometimes this does the trick but yes, this can be a pain!

Maybe also try making sure the cell height is less that 16 before you
paste the image back in again.

No promises but you never know!

I know what you mean as I have had issues with this also, generally
what I mentioned has fixed this for me although I also have had times
when it doesn’t and have found myself just taking the code for the
image and sticking it into a markup item in the cell, not an ideal
solution but one that works.

That I did not think of, but always an last option.

Does anyone know why this ‘pixel misplacement’ occurs in Freeway? Or is this simply generic across web design??
