Link styles...

Link styles in Beta… Try as I might, link styles used on pages, html text and master pages don’t seem to preview properly in Safari, Camino, and or Firefox… I set the link styles with the inspector, for the page… and set underline, color, etc. and Voila! Same as FW4. Sometimes it displays underline correctly, color correctly, etc. but rarely both? Hmmm… what’s the point of having this feature if it doesn’t work… I’d love to know the secret, if someone would tell me??

I have had problems with link styles before - if my memory serves me correctly I resolved it by not having any specific text styling on the links as well i.e.relying solely on the link style styling.

Very frusrating… You have a program that says: “Quickly and easily style your links” by the page, master, or item. Then, you do so… and it doesn’t work. Hmmm… I have used a number of methods, to some success, but it sure would be nice if it actually worked, or was as easy as advertised? DOH!

In a simple test I got the link styles to work on an HTML item.

It’s nice to have the possibility of applying different link styles to different objects on the page, but I’m disappointed by the way it had been implemented. At present, if you create a set of four styles (link, visited, hover, active) for one object, and then want to use exactly the same ones for another object, you’ll have to do all the work over again.

It should be possible to give a name to the set of four link styles. This name would appear in the list of styles, so that once a set of four link styles had been defined, it would be possible to apply this style to any page or object with a single click.

I seem to get mixed results all the time. Which doesn’t really make sense? If you do these simple styles in Dreamweaver they just work. Obviously in the big scheme of things, it’s trivial… but I don’t seem to be able to get the same CSS styling attributes to work in FW. I like the way you can design freely in FW, but when you want to get under the hood, there seems to be some “magic” happening that doesn’t follow the book?
